This
exciting bi-annual event, when Sir William McAlpine opens his private museum
and railway at Henley-On-Thames for us, is on Sunday 22nd June, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. All collectors of
Railwayana and pictorial enamel advertising signs are invited, to view Sir
William’s private railway and the largest collection of pictorial enamels in
the U.K. (not normally open to the public), and to ride on the standard gauge
steam railway, with its stations, signalbox, tunnel etc. through his estate and
wildlife park. This is a wonderful day for enthusiasts to get together and
chat, admire the exhibits, take photographs. No auction, no stalls, just good
social fun, with food and wine available.
On the day we create a one-day exhibition, from
items brought by you. This year the exhibition will consist of everything,
except nameplates. You will be invited to bring special small items from your
collection, anything from worksplates to buttons. There will also be a display
of LMR maroon totems organised by Chris and Julian Rider (Tel. 01952-770199) of
Totem Exchange. The display of your pictorial enamels is being organized by
Kath and Stuart Furniss (Tel. 0114 2746629).
ALL ARE INVITED – IT IS A
SPECIAL DAY-OUT! TICKETS AVAILABLE FROM THE CASHIERS AT THIS AUCTION – OR FROM
US BY SAE £5 EACH. CHEQUES PAYABLE TO FAWLEY MUSEUM SOCIETY.
